Wellsboro Agitator, Tioga, PA---Wednesday, April 15, 1903
Crookedcreek, April 14-Mr Daniel White, aged 89, died on Thursday. Three weeks ago he sustained a shock of paralysis from which he never rallied. He was a son of Elisha White. He was born at Holiday and had always resided in Middlebury township. He married on May 3, 1840, Mary Holiday, who survives him with their 7 children--Waldo, Serns, Milford, Calferna, Albert, Adelaide and Ida, all of whom live here except Calferna, wife of Frank White, who lives in Alpens, Mich. The deceased was a very industrious, thrifty man, honest and upright in all his dealings. He cleared his large farm and built his commodious house about 50 years ago. He gave the land for the Union church now the Free Baptist, and gave the first $5. for its bell which he loved to hear. In his old age he was afflicted sadly owing to the loss of sight nine years ago. But in his blindness he was gentle and patient; cheerfully groping his way about, anxious to wait on himself. Burial in Fairview Cemetery

Lucy English Bonham
Mary English Southerland's sister.
I only know of two cemeteries called "English Cemetery" in Duplin County. One is that cemetery in the middle of the field near Hanchey's Store. I have a listing for it, and there are no Bonhams there. Madison Francis English is buried there. He was Lucy and Mary's half-brother. He was also the informant on this death certificate. He died in 1946.
The other "English Cemetery" is supposed to be on Stokestown Road. I do not have a listing for that one. If Lucy is buried there, then there should be other English family members there.

This was not the correct Mary after all. This was the daughter of

Marshburn Information
I have a photo of Andrew A. Marshburn's gravestone that I can send to you if you would like. He and Nancy are buried in the Marshburn Cemetery, Half Moo area, just past Bryan Road on the right. The pavement ends and the unkept cemetery is to the right in a grove of trees. Directions from Jacksonville, Highway #17 - turn left onto Gun Branch Road off of Highway #17, go past Bryan Road approx. 1 1/2 mo. turn right onto Timothy Road. The cemetery is back of the Bible Baptist Church locataed at the end of the road on the right.
Nancy, his wife is buried there as well, but there is no stone. I talked with Letha Marshburn a couple of years before she died and she was married to Andrew A. Marshburn who was Benjamin William Marshburn's son. She told me that both were buried there as well as her stillborn child that was buried in between their graves.
I have quite a bit of information on the Marshburn line down from Andrew A. and Nancy Marshburn. My line is Wiliam Benjamin Marshburn and Julia McGowan through their daughter Molly Marshburn. There are a multitude of Marshburns in that area!
Let me know how much info you would like.
Nita
Jared, Letha Marshburn was the wife of Andrew A. Marshburn who was the son of William Benjamin Marshburn and Julia McGowan. "Buddy" as he was called was the youngest of all of the Wm.Benj/Julia McGowan Marshburn children. Wm. Benjamin named him after his father the first Andrew A. Marshburn. Also Buddy and Letha had a stillborn child that was also named Andrew A. Marshburn. The baby is the one that is buried between Andrew A. and Nancy Southerland. This information about the first Andrew A. Marshburn and Nancy Southerland Marshburn and the baby being buried between then was told to me personally by Letha. She died about a year after I visited with her. So glad that I went up there to find out where the graves were located and exactly who was there from the family.
Nita
Jared, in checking my Marshburn file I found some information from Fred Hintz, Richlands, NC. Fred is dead now and I can’t verify this information, but he has James C. Marshburn as the father of Andrew A. Marshburn. I have not checked on this at all, so if you do and find some confirmation please let me know. He did not have anything else other than James C. as his father.
