February 23, 1916 - Mary Southerland deeds land to Alex, Curtis and SS Southerland in Island Creek.
1920 - Duplin County census lists Alex Southerland as head of household in Island Creek with family, including mother Mary. Curtis and family live next door.
June 1920 - John A. Southerland sells the 30 acres bought from James Southerland to W.F. Pickett and E.M. Johnson.
September 16, 1920 - D. Katherine Duff Southerland dies, buried in Little Creek Cemetery.
