Florence Loomis Bohlayer

There is now only Aunt Loretta left of my grandma's father's siblings.

From Aunt Marilyn:

Hello Cousins,

Mom passed away about 10 PM our time. We are waiting for Hospice to come
make it official. She had been semi-conscious since the weekend and her
passing was peaceful. That was what we had been praying for - for her to
be free of pain and fear. Will update you with more information when we
get the arrangements made.

Love,
Marilyn

Florence Loomis Bohlayer

On October 7, 2008 Florence Loomis Bohlayer, 90, of Farmer’s Valley, Troy, died peacefully at home and went to be with her Lord. Florence was born October 31, 1917 near East Troy, PA to Reid and Fanny Parke Loomis. After graduating from Troy High School in 1935, she worked at the former McClelland store in Troy. On June 19, 1943 she married John F. Bohlayer and worked with him on the family farm, Bohlayer’s Orchard. They had two daughters, Martha Copp of Corning, NY and Marilyn Bohlayer of Troy. In 1976 John and Florence retired; John passed away May 7, 1982 after nearly 40 years of marriage. A faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Troy since 1944, she taught Sunday School, served on the Board of Deacons, and was active with the American Baptist Women’s Ministry. Florence was also a member of the Thursday Study Club and had participated in the Troy Tuesday Bridge Club.

As well as her parents and husband, Florence was predeceased by: brothers Luther, Lucien, Charles, and Ellsworth and local brother and sister-in-law Arthur and Dorothy Bohlayer Loomis; son-in-law Lynn Copp; local nephew David Loomis Sr.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 PM Friday October 10, 2008 at the Gerald W. Vickery Funeral Home, Inc, 110 West Main St., Troy, Pa. or from 1 to 2 PM on Saturday October 11, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Troy, 162 Canton St., Troy. Immediately following at 2 PM a memorial service celebrating Florence’s life will be held at the church with Rev. Garry Zuber, her beloved pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Glenwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Florence’s memory be directed to the First Baptist Church of Troy Memorial Fund, 162 Canton St., Troy PA or charity of their choice.

Victor and Frances

Marriage certificate dated Aug 7 1929 says Victor 23, Frances 22. He was born Oct 18, 1908, so was really 20. She was born Feb 8, 1911, so was really 18. According to the certificate itself, they had to be 18 to marry. Which they were, so I don't know why they gave wrong ages.
